Terrence Shannon Jr. couldn’t quite catch his rhythm offensively.
The Minnesota Timberwolves fell to the Philadelphia 76ers 92-90 on Wednesday night in the NBA Summer League, where Shannon, once again, was a starter.
Heading into his third game of the Summer League, Shannon had been nothing short of electric. It was the same version of Shannon that Illini fans grew to love throughout his career here in Champaign.
And his numbers certainly back it up.
In his debut, Shannon was a standout, putting up a game-high 25 points on 9 for 14 shooting while also recording 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal in the Timberwolves’ 81-74 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night.
Shannon was a walking highlight reel and continued to be productive on the offensive side of the ball in his following game against the Indiana Pacers.
A strong second half ended with Shannon having a team-high 19 points on 6 for 11 shooting. This game though showcased how polished of a player he is on all sides of the ball as he put up numbers across the stat sheet as he recorded 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks alongside the scoring.
But on Wednesday, it wasn’t the kind of night we have been used to seeing regularly from TSJ.
Shannon ended the game with 9 points on 3 for 5 shooting with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. It was an unusual switch of rhythm as he was more passive than he was in his previous games.

Regardless of the numbers, Shannon ended the game with a +16 +/-, which was a game-high. It demonstrates that even with an offensively quiet night, Shannon was still efficiently impacting the game.

This only goes to show the kind of player Shannon is. No matter what kind of output he provides on the offensive side of the ball, he will still highly impact the game in all other aspects.
Shannon and the Timberwolves will look to bounce back and return to winning ways as they prepare to face the Houston Rockets at 10 p.m. Thursday on ESPN.
