Tom Orsborn from the San Antonio Express-News, shared:
“Zach Collins is eager to see his friend and former teammate Doug McDermott.”
Zach and Doug both joined up with the Spurs since the 2021-2022 season and played together over three seasons.
According to Collins,
“Everybody loves Doug. He is one of the better teammates you will ever find and a really good person. He also just plays hard as (expletive). I loved playing with him. I think him and I played well together, got each other a lot of open looks because he draws so much attention and I was able to find that pocket. Everyone knows him as a shooter, but he was a willing passer in those situations.”
During his time in San Antonio, McDermott was well-liked by teammates and fans alike. On the court, he was the Spurs three-point assassin, shooting just over 42% for the Silver & Black.
A positive force both on and off the court, Doug “McBuckets” gelled well with the young core driving the youth movement, but as is the nature of the NBA, McDermott was sent back to Indianapolis in a three-team deal before the trade deadline last February.
McDermott finished the season and signed with Sacramento this offseason.
He and the Kings face off against the Spurs tonight at the AT&T Center.
It’ll be good to welcome Doug back.
But of course it is...
