Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid president, confirmed this morning that Real Madrid are working on holding a tribute match to honor Iker Casillas at the Santiago Bernabéu. He added that it’s been mentioned in conversations between Spanish and Portuguese clubs that August 12 could be the possible date and the game would form part of this seasons Trofeo Bernabéu, with FC Porto being Real Madrid’s opponent.
Florentino Pérez commented that the idea is to have the tribute game “as soon as possible”. Sporting directors for both clubs will need to asses their respective schedules with the Portuguese Liga Nos campaign commencing on August 15/16 when FC Porto face Vitoria Guimares in their opening league fixture.
