Manchester United set off for the United States as the club initiates their 2015-16 pre-season tour. The ‘Red Devils’ are set to play four games there between the 17th and 29th of July. The games form part of the International Champions Cup, and their first opponents will be Mexican side, Club America. Van Gaal’s team then face Barça, PSG and San Jose Earthquakes. The Old Trafford side are the defending holders of the Champions Cup.
Van Gaal has taken the bulk of his available first team squad (Di María is still on holiday after the Copa America) and new signings, Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger along with Schneiderlin all make the trip. David de Gea also flies to the US as his there is no current movement on his impending move to Real Madrid.
De Gea, who has a year to run on his contract at United, is the number one candidate to take over as Real Madrid goalkeeper now that Casillas is off to Porto. Sergio Ramos and Keylor Navas are names that have been cited as part of an exchange deal that would see De Gea return to Spain but as time moves on the probability of the defender moving to Old Trafford becomes more remote.
