Iker Casillas arrived in Porto yesterday evening on a regular TAP Portugal flight. He sat in the first row. He was happy and excited about his new challenge. He travelled with his agent Carlo Cutropía. His partner and son will come later. After getting off the plane, a car picked him up. Two hundred supporters had waited for him, though they were barely able to see him. He stayed at the Sheraton hotel and had dinner with Pinto Da Costa, Porto’s president, and Antero Henrique, the Portuguese club’s director general. They told him what his life will be like from now on. There will be no presentation, just a private institutional event, and he will visit the club’s museum.
He already has a shirt number. His shirt will sport the number 12, which has special personal significance for him – he even named his dog ‘Doce’ (‘Twelve’). Shirts with his name are already being sold in Porto’s shop, but they do not have his new number. Today (Tuesday), in the early afternoon, he will travel to Horst (Holland), where Porto coach Julen Lopetegui and the rest of the team are waiting for him.
