Jose Mourinho has spoken about Filipe Luis’ future to Chelsea TV.
He said: “If Atletico want him then they’ll have to pay and we’ll talk it over. If he leaves we have to find a replacement.” The Portuguese coach doesn’t seem particularly worried about the full back’s departure, though he won’t let him leave for less than he’s worth.
The asking price for the Brazilian full back is around €15 million. Atleti have first option on the player and Diego Simeone has told the board that he wants him back. If Luis does return, the future of Siqueira will be up in the air. The club has Lucas as a backup and Jesus Gámez can also fill in if needed.
Filipe Luis, who hasn’t played much at Chelsea and has been used predominantly as a backup to Cesar Azpilicueta, is very open to a return to the Vicente Calderon. With Savic and Luis, Atleti would only be missing a defensive midfielder to complete their summer transfer project. The chosen man is another ex-Atleti player, PSG’s Thiago Motta.
