The James goal now opens up a debate about who should take Madrid’s free-kicks. “Let’s wait and see” was Benitez’s reply.

Real Madrid coach, Rafa Benítez was clearly happy with the ongoing improvement in his Real Madrid side as pre-season moves forward.

Sensations: “Both halves were good. We made plenty of changes as players were tired but there was a good rhythm to the game played in difficult conditions. We played well, scored goals and kept a clean sheet. The defensive worlk is starting to pay off and one can see this on the pitch”.

Freedom in attack: “The players are free to do what they feel correct. Having said that, the team needs to work as a group and the front line has to help in defensive tasks.

Defense: “I’m not concerned about the back-line. It’s clear that we can improve in all areas. But I saw today that we allowed the opposition very few scoring chances and we scored on three occasions which is a result of our hard work paying off”.

Free-kick taker: “In the first half it was Cristiano and in the second James. We’ll see later on what happens”.

Jesé: “He had a terrible injury and when he gets regular playing time he’ll get stronger and stronger. He has great quality and can only improve”.

Conversations between Ramos-Florentino: “I spoke to the president on Sunday at lunch and he told me that he hoped to speak with Ramos. I’ve asked both and they seem to be optimistic. We’ll see”.

De Gea: “The only thing i know is that we scored three goals and played very well”.

Casilla: “I feel competition in all positions is a positive thing. He had little world to do when he played today. Both played well. It’s great knowing that there is always an alternative”.

Injuries: “There is no need to take risks. When the Milan game comes around we’ll see how plays”.
