Spanish Police carried out another wave of arrests this morning as part of ‘Operación Neptuno', which saw 17 individuals detained in connection to the mass brawl between rival ultra factions before a Atletico Madrid vs. Deportivo la Coruña match on November 30th 2014 which resulted in the death of Francisco Javier Romero Taboada, alias 'Jimmy'.
Among the 17 detainees are two individuals who have been accused as being directly involved with Jimmy’s death and will have to answer to homicide charges. The other accused are to be charged with mass brawling.
14 arrests were made in Madrid, two in Toledo and one in Valencia. All alleged members of the far-right, Frente Atlético, the Atletico Madrid ultra group. The operation commenced at 0600 this morning and Police have not ruled out more subsequent arrests.
The new arrests will be taken to the Moratalaz Police Commission in Madrid.
