Manchester United coach, Louis van Gaal, admitted that the ongoing situation regarding David de Gea "is not good for the player, nor for United or for the club where he wants to move to". Van Gaal was speaking at the post match press conference after his United side lost 2-0 to PSG. "We have to wait and see", was his final comment on the De Gea situation.
The former Atlético Madrid keeper started for United and his error led to Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring the second PSG goal of the evening. "I wouldn’t say he played poorly. He made one mistake but his overall performance wasn’t bad. Everybody can make mistakes but when a goalkeeper makes a mistake, it leads to a goal and that’s the difference”, observed Van Gaal.
Van Gaal admitted at the weekend he had signed Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero because he feared De Gea could still leave. He recently stated: "I think that in our circumstances, with the threat of David de Gea moving to Real Madrid, we have to prepare our season and I feel that Sergio Romero can fulfill this as we have little time to react if anything happens with David de Gea."
