The 20 La Liga clubs will have traveled a combined distance of 261.551 kilometers during the 2015-16 pre-season activity. 17 teams have been involved with games, training camps away from Spain with just: Eibar, Las Palmas and Sporting opting to carry out their work on Spanish soil.
Real Madrid are the team who will have covered most distance (44.247 km), as part of their preparation and indeed will have traveled more distance than some of Europe’s major clubs such as Chelsea (12.900) Manchester United (17.700) Bayern (21.058) and Juventus (23.018). Madrid changed they traditional trip to the USA for a debut visit to Australia for the club. The club participated in the Australian and Chinese versions of the International Champions Cup, winning both trophies.
Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique, manifested earlier that he is no fan of lengthy pre-season tours as his Barça visited the USA and in turn clocked up 20,000 km more than the corresponding pre-season travel last year.
Valencia and Athletic are the first of the La Liga clubs being involved in competitive football, participating in preliminary round of the Champions and Europa League’s respectively. Athletic undertook a 16.623 km journey to play in one friendly game in Boise, Idaho (USA). Valencia played one game against Bayern Munich in China and this weekend they travel to Cologne for the 2015 Colonia Cup.
