Cristiano Ronaldo never thought he would get so far in the world of football but as time passed by he realised that he was different to other children, something he has revealed in an interview with Herbalife.
When he was a child, the Portuguese footballer spent hours playing football on the street before his father told him to go and train at Andorinha. “In my family, we all love football,” he said in the interview. “I remember that one day I was playing in the street and my father told me: ‘Why don’t you train at the club when I go to work?’. I said yes, why not? So I started to play.”
That’s how Cristiano Ronaldo’s career started. “I went to train every day and I enjoyed being part of the team. My father was always there for me.” As the training sessions passed by, the player started to realise that he was different from the others but he never thought he would make it to where he has today. “At first I felt I was different to the other children. I never thought I was going to become a professional or go to Manchester United, Real Madrid or Sporting [Lisbon]. At that time I just wanted to enjoy it and it wasn’t going through my head that I had talent. At first I didn’t think that.”
As the years passed by he started to realise that he could fight for his dreams. “After three or four years I started to think: ‘I want to play there’. I got to watch all of the matches and I dreamed of wearing the shirts.”
