Manchester United have launched their new season playing kit. As of yesterday, German sports manufacturer, Adidas replace Nike as official kit supplier and the recent tour of the US was the last time the club used the Oregon based playing kit. Ashley Young, Schneiderlin, Mata, Blind and Ander Herrera were the players chosen to star in the publicity campaign to promote the new kit. This has prompted further doubts as to the continuity of the Spaniard at Old Trafford as the goalkeeper was named best player of the year on two occasions by his team-mates.
On many occasion each player’s personal deal with a sports brand impedes them from appearing in a publicity campaign from a rival kit manufacturer. De Gea was a Nike player but his deal with the American company expired a year ago and in the meantime the player has been wearing various sporting brands (Puma boots, Adidas gloves). His omission from the new kit campaign is being interpreted in certain quarters as an indication that his near future is beyond Old Trafford.
