Felipe Miñambres spoke to the assembled media after the club presented new signing, Ebert this morning. The Rayo sporting director was visibly annoyed with recent comments by Rayo coach, Paco Jemez, regarding new Chinese signing, Zhang Chengdong. "I don’t like lies", he stated but avoided entering into more detail, claiming that his relationship with Jemez was good.
How is the squad coming together?
-We still need two center midfielders, a forward and maybe a left winger. We’re waiting to hear back from various offers we’ve made. There is plenty of time left in the transfer window.
-So, when did Paco know about the arrival of Zhang?
-Since my time in china about two years ago. He knew that the player would arrive and made no big deal about it then.
-Do you understand Paco’s criticisms over the signings of the likes of Toño, Miku, Chengdong...
-I know how Paco is. I didn’t like his comments about Zhang. He’s an excellent coach and trusts the sporting director and rarely gets involved in the intricacies of signings. From 150 or so signings it’s normal that there will be three or four that displease him.
-Tell us about Zhang...
-In Portugal he played in a more offensive role and in China he played on the wing. He is a versatile player and will adapt to any situation.
