Dele Alli caused a storm of controversy at Turf Moor before Harry Kane bagged a hat-trick to equal Alan Shearer’s record for most Premier League goals in a year.
Kane dazzled in front of watching England boss Gareth Southgate and his treble took his tally of top-flight goals to 36 in 2017 - matching Alan Shearer’s record of 36 set in 1995.
Burnley fans were furious when Alli escaped with just a booking for a lunge at Charlie Taylor minutes before he won a hugely-contentious penalty for Kane’s first.
Kevin Long appeared to make little contact - if any - on the Tottenham playmaker, but referee Michael OIiver pointed to the spot and Kane converted to open the scoring in the seventh minute.
The livid Burnley fans chanted “cheat” at Alli in between booing him and he is living a charmed life because he was fortunate not to be sent off last week for an X-rated challenge on Kevin de Bruyne.
The goal ended Burnley’s run of 361 minutes without conceding and Sean Dyche’s side, who lost Chris Wood to injury, appeared to have a legitimate Sam Vokes' effort ruled out for a foul.
By then Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-Min had missed great chances before Kane finished for his second on 69 minutes and then his record-breaking effort on 79 minutes.

And there's the full-time whistle! Spurs win 3-0 as Kane grabs a hat-trick, scoring an early penalty, before notching right- and left-footed efforts in the second half to put the game beyond Burnley's reach. The Clarets, who lost Wood in the first half, found it difficult to create any clear-cut opportunities, and perhaps missed the suspended James Tarkowski. It finishes 3-0 to Spurs!
Kane slips as a pass comes his way, and it doesn't look like there's much longer left in the game now.
The final few minutes are petering to a close. Taylor sends a cross in from the left that Lloris makes a meal of, but Dembele clears his lines and quells the danger.

Defour goes in late and picks up a yellow card.
Alli leaves the field to a chorus of boos and is replaced by Llorente for the final few minutes.
Arfield comes off for former Huddersfield man Wells as Dyche puts another striker on the pitch, but the game is gone in truth.
Interestingly, Dier makes way for Lamela in the last few minutes. at 3-0 up, Pochettino clearly feels confident enough to put another attacking player on the pitch.
SAVE! Barnes' header at goal is heading for the bottom corner, but Lloris keeps it out. Barnes is screaming for a penalty, but the referee isn't interested.
NO GOAL! Vokes has the ball in the back of the net from a powerful header, but it's ruled out as he's adjudged to have fouled the goalkeeper.

Kane won the ball back and Alli plays a neat one-two with him before seeing his team-mate stick it away.
GOAL! Kane grabs his hat-trick as he wins the ball back with a hefty challenge on Gudmundsson, before taking the ball down the left and placing it across Pope with his left foot. It's 3-0 Spurs and there's no coming back for Burnley from here.
Dembele replaces Son as Pochettino freshens the team up, looking to solidify his team and see out the game.

CHANCE! Sanchez gives the ball away to Defour and Burnley break quickly, but it just runs away from Vokes at the end and Lloris gathers it.
Dyche is going to a 4-4-2 now as Vokes comes on for Hendrick.
It was a good ball by Sissoko, but it was far too easy with the amount of space both players had to pick their spots. Very unlike Burnley to allow players in that easily.
GOAL! Sissoko plays Kane through and the usually solid Burnley back line is breached far too easily. The gap between the two centre-halves was massive and Kane had all the time in the world to run in behind and slip the ball into the back of the net. It's 2-0 to Spurs!
Long does superbly to head Kane's cross away from the onrushing Alli at the back-post, and he wins a free-kick in the process too.
Barnes is shoved over right on the edge of the box by Vertonghen as the ball comes in, but the referee gives offside instead as the flag goes up! Dyche is furious on the touchline.
Barnes is penalied for a foul on Aurier as the ball is whipped in towards him. The striker was all over him, and it's a waste of a good opportunity.
Vertonghen has an issue with one of his boots and has to get it replaced, but the game goes on in his temporary absence.
SAVE! Kane tries to atone for his error by firing one at goal, but Pope is equal to to it and tips it behind for a corner!
How are Spurs throwing these opportunities away?! Kane capitalises as Bardsley gives the ball away, but his square ball is terrible and is massively over-hit!

MISS! What a sitter!! Aurier bursts forward into the box and squares for Son under pressure from two defenders. The South Korean is all on his own in the box, but his first-time effort is high over the crossbar! How has he not scored? It's still just 1-0 to Spurs, but their finishing has let them down.
Sissoko picks up a yellow card. Perhaps some frustration is seeping through as Spurs rue their missed chances.
