With last night’s second qualifying round games over, Valencia know know their possible rivals for the decisive play-off game which will be held over two legs on August 18/19 and 25/26. Nuno’s side are in Pot 1 where they will be accompanied by: Manchester United, Sporting de Portugal, Shaktar Donetsk and Bayer Leverkusen. The five rivals for these teams will be selected from: Monaco, Rapid Vienna, CSKA Moscow, Club Brugge and Lazio.
Monaco and Rapid secured their passage on Tuesday night against Swiss side Young Boys and Ajax Amsterdam respectively. Last night CSKA beat Sparta Prague in the Czech capital and Club Brugge convincingly secured a 3-0 home win against Greek outfit, Panathanaikos. Shaktar beat big spending Fenerbahçe in Lviv and this result means that Lazio slip into Pot 2 based on coefficient.
The draw for the final qualifying round before the group stages will take place tomorrow at 1200 (CET) in Nyon (Switzerland).
