Negotiations between Tévez and Atleti have cooled due to his salary demands. Boca are preparing a new offensive president Angelici will go to see him next week.

Negotiations regarding the transfer of Carlos Tévez are ongoing. Juvenus, who want to settle this matter as soon as possible, have valued him at €15m amid interest from Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. The case of Boca Juniors’ interest would be different though – the Italian side would be willing to let him return to Buenos Aires for less than €8m. Boca are not a direct competitor for Juve and therefore there would be less objection to the player going back to his old club. In addition, Tévez already discussed the possibility of ‘going home’ with Juventus in January, and they gave him the nod. But there is no hurry for the player. “I am focused on the national team,” he said during an interview with Clarín.

The negotiations between Atlético and the player have stalled. The main problem concerns his salary. The forward, who earns €4.5m a season at Juventus, wants to increase his salary to at least €5m a year. However Atleti, who are limited by Financial Fair Play regulations, are unable to pay him more than he is earning right now.

Despite having the trump card of Diego Simeone wanting him (the coach himself has asked him to come to Atleti), the offer from PSG is very enticing. The French club have no cash-flow problems and have put an irresistible offer on the table. The footballer would be able to double (€9m) his current salary in Paris. Amid the rumours surrounding the possible departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani, PSG want to secure a top-class forward for next season. Therefore they have set their gaze on the attacker who featured in the Champions League final.

The other club involved in the matter, Boca Juniors, dream of bringing their star back home. Tévez made his professional debut with the La Bombonera club and they want him to return in the twilight of his career. As such, Boca president Daniel Angelici had planned to try to convince the player to return to Buenos Aires just after the Copa América, when Tévez will return to the Argentine capital to take part in a tribute match for Sebastián Battaglia.

However, Juve’s desire to get the issue sorted quickly means Angelici now will travel to Argentina’s team base in La Serena (Chile) next week (probably Tuesday) to try to persuade the footballer.

Doubts. The dizzying figures offered by PSG have planted seeds of doubt in Tévez’s head. Therefore, Atlético are keeping other options open as they look to reinforce their front-line ahead of the 2015-16 season. With Luciano Vietto on his way, Atleti are now looking for a centre-forward. Those at the club have always liked Carlos Bacca, but the Colombian’s excellent season at Sevilla (where he won the Europa League for the second year in a row) has awoken the interest of various big teams. In addition, Sevilla are not willing to part ways with the striker and they will refer all interested teams to the player’s €30m buyout clause. Therefore, signing Bacca would be twice as costly as procuring Tévez.

Another alternative that they are considering is Ciro Immobile. The player has not featured so much at Borussia Dortmund this season and his price would be significantly lower than Bacca’s. The Bundesliga side would let him leave for a fee of around €20m. Liverpool are also interested in him.
