Pre-candidates need to secure 2.534 signatures to stand

Bartomeu, Laporta and Benedito are guaranteed to secure the minimum stipulated signatures to stand.

An interesting time ahead institutionally for FC Barcelona as each of the six pre-candidates need to secure 2.534 signatures from club members to ratify their candidacy and convert them into official presidential candidates ahead of the July 18 elections.

Yesterday’s electoral activity didn’t involve great speeches as each pre-candidate went about securing the requisite amount of signatures in order to peruse their presidential aspirations. Bartomeu, Laporta and Benedito are expected to have no difficulty in securing the signatures whilst Freixa, Majó and Farré will hope that their recent speeches and declarations are enough to convince many of the Barça faithful in backing them.

Posible debates on radio and TV

The proposed media debates amongst each of the pre-candidates are expected to be key areas in determining the future club president. At present the format of these debates is yet to be established but it looks likely that Catalunya Radio will host one with TV3 (local Catalan television) being the television network. The public debate platform is not reportedly to be a forum that is favored by Josep Maria Bartomeu, whilst Joan Laporta in the past has shown his credentials in a debating situation. Times and dates of these presidential debates are expected to be confirmed next week.
