Sergio Ramos' relationship with Manchester United is nothing new. The Daily Mail on Tuesday reprinted extracts from an interview Ramos gave the Sunday Times in 2013 in which the defender lauded the Old Trafford club, lending more weight to the reports published in AS in recent days suggesting that Ramos will make the move to the Premier League heavyweights this summer. United are thought to weighing up an offer of 30 million euros plus David de Gea for the Spain international.
The first of Ramos' revelations was that his family are fans of Manchester United: "My family are from Sevilla but my dad has always had a weakness for Manchester United. He likes to watch a lot of football and when I was a kid he told me which players I should watch."
The second was the defender's own opinion of the Old Trafford outfit. "If we look at the history and the philosophy that Manchester United transmit in the Premier League it's similar to that of Real Madrid in Spain. The ideals they give to their players are similar."
