AS readers are not enamoured by the idea of a swap deal between Real Madrid and Manchester United for Sergio Ramos to move to Old Trafford in exchange for David de Gea. An online survey conducted by this newspaper asked if the deal would have a positive effect: 12,102 people responded, of whom 8,921 (73.72 percent) said they were against the idea, with 3,181 in favour (26.28 percent).

Sergio Ramos could seek an exit from the Bernabéu this summer over a contract dispute; the defender's current deal runs until 2017 and has a release clause of 200 million euros and to date the Bernabéu board has made no attempt to tie the Spain international to a new agreement.

Manchester United are keen on adding the World Cup-winner to their ranks and are waiting to see what sort of price Real are willing to offer for De Gea to then ask that Ramos be included in any transfer negotiations. The Premier League club are thought to be willing to allow De Gea, whose contract at Old Trafford expires next summer, if they receive Ramos in part exchange plus a fee of 30 million euros.

United have put together a package that would see Ramos receive 12 million euros in his first season, then 11.5, 11, 10.5, and 10 million over the course of the remainder of a five-year contract, Cope reported. At the Bernabéu Ramos earns six million euros a season after tax.
