Gina Carano has given Ronda Rousey her answer: “It could happen.”
Carano was on “Unfiltered With Dan Bongino” recently and addressed Rousey’s dream of fighting her one day – out of respect.
“…Gina Carano, she’s the reason why I got into fighting, she’s the reason why I knew it was a possibility,” Rousey previously said on “The Kurt Angle Show.”
“I will always be forever grateful…and if she ever was like, ‘Ronda, I wanna fight you tomorrow at 205 pounds,’ like whatever the hell she’d want – I’m not saying she’s 205 pounds – if she wanted to come into my backyard and do the Rocky thing or, you know, ding, ding and we just do it in the backyard, I don’t care.”
To which Carano replied:
“You know what? Just never put it past me. It could happen,” Carano said.
“It would be six months from now because I have a lot of stuff I need to do …. I really want to create, I want to direct, I want to produce… I want to give Ronda Rousey a job in one of my movies so maybe there is something we can do there.”
Carano has not fought in MMA since 2009.
The 40-year-old is often recognized as one of the pioneers of women’s MMA. She competed in EliteXC and Strikeforce from 2006 to 2009. She finished with a 7-1 record.
She is now starring on the big screen, her most recent being “Terror on the Prairie,” which is a Western film that she co-stars with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. Her biggest role was Cara Dune on Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian,” but she was removed from the show after controversial social media posts.
As for Rousey, 35, she last fought in December 2016 where she lost to Amanda Nunes in the first round and in an attempt to reclaim the title. Before that, she suffered her first pro loss to Holly Holm in the second round.
Rousey has also starred in movies like “Fast and Furious 7” in 2015, but her most recent stint is with the WWE. She is the current SmackDown Women’s Champion.
