Live analysis of Leicester City's opening pre-season match as they take on National League side Notts County behind closed doors at their Seagrave training base

Seven weeks after Leicester City secured eighth place with a 4-1 win over Southampton, they are back in action.

On Saturday afternoon, they take on Notts County behind closed doors at their Seagrave training base as they get minutes in the legs of their players ahead of the new campaign, which begins in less than a month's time. And there are expected to be plenty of players featuring for Brendan Rodgers' side.

It's likely that there will be two 11s in action over the course of the afternoon, so as not to run anybody too hard in the baking sun. There will be a fair few development squad players involved across the squad too, with Rodgers welcoming plenty into his senior training squad over the first two weeks of pre-season.

We will be watching along as City stream the game to provide analysis on our blog below. Kick-off is at 1pm.

The second-half team

Here's a reminder of the second-half team, with Iheanacho the only senior player involved. It includes two trialists, including Paul Appiah, who was released by Villa this summer. We'll wait to see how they line up before giving a formation.

Second-half team: Stolarczyk, Wormleighton, Appiah (trialist), Hill (trialist), Hughes, Leshabela, Madivadua, Cover, Fitzhugh, Maswanhise, Iheanacho.

Half-time: City 1-1 Notts County

Barnes gets the opener before City concede from a corner.

Choudhury, Wright and Wilson-Brown are probably the players who can be most pleased with how they performed.

They will completely change around at the break, with 11 new players on the pitch. Iheanacho will captain a team of players from the development squad and academy.

Ball nearly squeezes in

There's some great combination play between Ricardo and Wright and the winger gets to the byline.

He delays the ball back and tries to poke it through just as Slocombe comes to meet him, the ball ricocheting towards the goal-line and the goalkeeper just jumping on it.

Off the post!

There's good build-up down the right and Daka finds Wright inside the box. He takes a touch to set himself and then firest goalwards, the ball bouncing off the inside of the post and away.

Goal. Notts County equaliser from corner

Oh no. That's not what City wanted.

Mitchell is slipped through and Iversen spreads himself well at the Notts striker's feet to save his one-on-one chance.

But from the corner, the Dane comes and doesn't catch the ball, with Mitchell reacting quickest to hook the loose ball into the net.

Drinks break

With the weather so warm, there's a drinks break following the goal, but Rodgers also gets out the tactics board and gives plenty of instructions to his players for a three-minute period.

GOAL!!! Barnes scores!

There's the first goal of pre-season.

It's a simple goal, but shows Barnes at his best. Daka receives the ball, turns and spots Barnes bombing down the middle, slipping a good pass between the Notts defenders.

Barnes carries it forward and calmly finishes.

Iversen punches clear

Rodgers will be happy with that.

Choudhury's big tackle concedes a corner, but Iversen does well to clear the danger from it, commanding his box to come and punch clear.

From the next attack, Dewsbury-Hall's clearance hits Wilson-Brown and Iversen gets down to save.

Close!

The first big chance and it's just wide from Barnes.

Soumare does well to create space on the right and then find Wright. He cuts the ball inside the box to Barnes, whose first touch sees the ball bounce up, allowing him to volley. It's from a tight angle, and the ball just rolls wide of the post.

Flynn makes positive start

One of the youngest players in this first-half team, Shane Flynn, has made a good start. He's been adventurous, and not afraid to carry the ball forward, while he's attempted a few incisive passes in behind to Barnes and Daka.

He's been combative too and made a few good slide tackles.

In attack, City nearly get in after a delightful back-heel from Soumare to Wright in the box, but the cross is over-hit.

Fofana goes down

Notts County's number 20 flies in on Fofana and gets nowhere near the ball. That's always going to prompt grimaces given what happened in the Villarreal game last summer.

Meanwhile, City have dominated possession and are pressing high, but it's Notts who have come closest, with a corner flashing across the face of goal.

Result does matter, says Simpson

While it's often said that the results don't matter in pre-season and that it's all about minutes, former City right-back Danny Simpson disputed that on punditry, and says that from a player's view, it absolutely does matter, especially at home and against a lower-league team.

Pink training shirts on show

City will be wearing their new kit for the first time today, but they are also sporting a fetching bright pink training shirt as they do their warm-ups.

Who is Wilson-Brown?

The youngest player in the first-half line-up and the least likely to be known by City fans is centre-back Tom Wilson-Brown.

He is yet to even make an appearance for the development squad, having been with the Under-18s for all of last season. He's tall and slim, much like Jonny Evans, and has tended to play on the left side of a back three, so it's likely he will be on that side again, with Wesley Fofana on the right.
