Jackson is already thinking about his rojiblanco future. “I can confirm my move to Atlético. The terms were agreed; I’m going there for four years. At the moment I don’t know when I’ll join up with them. Thankfully it went through quickly and I’m really excited about the move to Atlético de Madrid. For me it’s a new challenge in my career and now I hope things go well for me there. I’ll go there fully committed to help the club continue its development,” the Colombian striker said, still smarting a little after being knocked out of the Copa América by Argentina on penalties.
Jackson is also very aware of the inevitable comparisons with Falcao, particularly after El Tigre’s impressive return for both Porto and the Colchoneros: “I’m going to approach it like I’ve approached every big challenge in my career. Hopefully I’ll be as successful as he was. Atlético play a different system to Porto, but they’re always fighting. They have achieved great things in recent years and have players that know each other well,” he said.
Atlético’s new striker now awaits to see when he can meet up with the rest of the squad and join the other players returning from the Copa América such as Godín, Giménez and ‘Cebolla’ Rodriguez.
