Carlo Cutropia, Iker Casillas’ agent, added to the rumour mill that’s saying the keeper will be playing at Roma next season. In statements published on website La Roma 24, Cutropia said the following when asked about interest from the Italian club in Casillas: “The only thing I can say is that Roma is a very big club, one of the best in Europe and we’re honoured by these rumours. We like the city and the warmth of the ‘tifosi’ a lot”. At no point did he admit to actual interest from the club, referring only to rumours, but did say Iker’s inner circle are very keen on the club.
Tuttomercatoweb.com went further than most on Saturday, when they said there had been a call from Roma to the Real Madrid captain.
As this newspaper revealed last week, Roma is the Italian team that has been most focused on Casillas (always with direct contact with Carlo Cutropia, rather than with Madrid). The problem is they are unable to offer more than three million euros a year. Madrid would need to make up the rest of his 7.5 million euro salary for the next two years his Madrid contract runs for. Roma are keen to bring in a more reliable keeper than De Sanctis.
