The candidate for the FC Barcelona presidency, Josep Maria Bartomeu, summarised his project for the future. We want that in 2021 Barça is to football what Apple is to computers, NASA for space or Facebook for the internet, he said.

“We want that in 2021 Barça is to football what Apple is to computers, NASA for space or Facebook for the internet,” said Josep Maria Bartomeu, one of the candidates for the Barcelona presidency at one of his campaign speeches on Tuesday.

His project: “A management model to strengthen our leadership in the world, to continue leading it in 2021 and to be a unique brand in the world. The aim is that in this year, 2021, the world will associate Barça with football.”

Advertising contracts: “The club has many assets, such as knowledge and experience, athletes and coaches, the ‘Espai Barça’ project’, a great image and prestige and our members and fan clubs. We are the most global club, we enjoy a worldwide reputation.”

The Barça of the future: “The Barça of the 21st century is based on the social model, sporting, athletics and the Espai Barça project. Our sporting project is based on La Masia 360, creating a base to support the athletes and coaches and to strengthen the promotion of women’s sport, we want to be a leader in that too. And out third sporting point will be the creation of the observatory and university of FC Barcelona, built in the Espai Barça, a training centre in the environment of football and sport.”

The elections of 2003: “We have to go beyond the virtuous circle. We have to be able to maintain economic sustainability, heritage and sport beyond the sporting results. It is time to make changes and to lead with these proposals to achieve it.”
