Alberto Soler, Barcelona’s director of sporting institutional relations, is travelling to Italy today to try and secure the signing of Paul Pogba. Barcelona’s arguments are financial. Soler will join Ariedo Braida, the club’s sporting director, to try and convince the Turin club that Barça has the best offer for them. According to reports, an offer of around €80 million plus various add-ons is on the table. Guiseppe Marotta, Juve’s managing director, has already said that he will meet with the people from Josep Maria Bartomeu’s camp but that, for now, he will not sit down with with Joan Laporta, another candidate for the Barcelona presidency.

Although the French midfielder would not be able to play for Barça until January owing to the FIFA transfer ban imposed on the club, the Catalans are clear that they should focus their full attention on signing the top young player. However, Atlético Madrid’s Arda Turan is also on their radar. As reported by Catalunya Radio on Tuesday, Barcelona and Atlético have been in contract and negotiations are at an “advanced” stage. There could be signings before the elections.
