Málaga have started their 20015-16 pre-season training. Javi Gracia and his players met up this morning at 08:30 being the first La Liga team to return from holiday (Athletic Club also return to training later this afternoon). The players underwent a medical revision and started light gym work. There are no plans for the team to carry out training on the pitch today.
Gracia at the moment has just 15 first team players to count on, which include new incorporation's: Juan Carlos, Charles and Espinho. Malaga’s six international players (Ochoa, Rosales, Horta, Amrabat, Chen and Filipenko), will return at a later date.
The group was augmented this morning by nine youth players who Gracia plans to work with as part of the pre-season: goalkeepers, Pol Ballesté and Aarón; defenders, Iván and Calero; midfielders, Pablo and Rafa de Vicente; and forwards, Kuki, Ontiveros and Rufo.
At present the team from the Costa del Sol have four pre-season games lined up, two in Germany against Karlsruher and Friburg on July 17 and 19 respectively. Málaga then leave for South America where they play Colombian side, Deportivo de Cali (July 26) and Uruguayan outfit, Peñarol on August 1. The date and opposition for the traditional Trofeo Costa del Sol has yet to be confirmed.
