Anti-violence Commission to meet over anthem whistling

The Commission has now received all the documentation relating to the Copa del Rey final and have called a meeting to look at possible sanctions.

The Anti-violence Commission have new received all the relevant reports relating to the whistling of the Spanish national anthem at the final of the Copa del Rey final in May. The match was played at the Camp Nou between Athletic Club Bilbao and FC Barcelona.

The commission received an overview from the local Catalan government (Generalitat), which compiles all the relevant information relating to the incident.

Having studied the report, the Anti-violence Commission will hold a special one-off meeting to study the possibility of any potential sanction and will review all aspects, from crowd behavior through to problems with access to the stadium before the event.

The 48 second playback of the Spanish national anthem via the Camp Nou speaker system received a monumental whistling from the majority of the 95.000 assembled supporters at the stadium. This was the first final that was attended by King Felipe VI and saw Barcelona overcome the Basque team 3-1.
