Josu Urrutia presented three new Athletic Bilbao players this morning. Gorka Elustondo arrives from Real Sociedad and signs until 2017. Eneko Bóveda moves from Eibar and signs a contract that runs to 2018 and Javi Eraso makes the move from Leganés. The president added that all signings are requests of head coach, Ernesto Valverde. “These are players that will improve the squad, offer more competition, and help us next season”
The signing of Gorka Elustondo has been accompanied with certain polemic after his ill natured departure from La Real, after David Moyes refused to discuss his future at the club. There are also certain sectors of the San Mames faithful who have their doubts on the playing ability of the 28 year old from Besain. “Once there was a confirmed offer on the table, I never doubted about coming to Athletic, the player observed this morning during his presentation.
Urrutia added: "Gorka has played for some years in the top flight and is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions. Bóveda and Eraso are former Athletic youth players and we know them well as we do the likes of Beñat, Etxeita, Rico and Balenziaga, who all spent time at the club formerly”.
