Mexican striker, Javier "Chicharito" Hernández fractured his collarbone last night during the friendly match between Mexico and Honduras ahead of the 2015 Gold Cup which gets underway on July 7.
Hernández and Honduran player, Beckeles both went up for a header and the Mexican player fell awkwardly on the surface of the pitch at the NRG Stadium in Houston (Texas, USA)
Gerardo Aguilar, Mexican team doctor later confirmed that the forward had fractured his right collarbone and the player was taken to a local Houston hospital for further tests.
Hernández is the second Mexican player to miss out on the tournament in a week after Espanyol’s, Héctor Moreno was forced out of the tournament following the recurrence of a foot injury.
Miguel Herrera’s side is in Group C of the tournament which takes place in the United States and Canada from July 7-26. They face Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala as group rivals.
