FC Porto has offered Iker Casillas the highest salary ever in the history of the domestic Portuguese league. According to the national daily, Diario de Noticias, the Liga NOS club have offered the player a salary of €210,000 net per month. This still falls short of his potential earnings if he were to remain at Real Madrid. The goalkeeper is set to earn 7, 5 million euro for the 2015-16 season and 7 million the following if he decides to stay at the Bernabeu..
FC Porto are hoping to officially announce the Casillas signing this Thursday which would see the end point of negotiations that have been going on for over two months and that were instigated by Porto’s Spanish coach, Julen Lopetegui. It was the former Real Madrid goalkeeper who saw the potential once he was made aware of Real Madrid’s interest in signing David De Gea.
A key factor in Casillas’ move is the question of Manchester United selling De Gea to Madrid. That particular deal has hit an impasse upon the insistence of the English club that any deal for De Gea would also see Madrid selling Sergio Ramos to the Premier League club.
