Porto and Benfica are in a transfer derby to secure the services of Atlético Madrid striker Raúl Jiménez. AS reported Porto's interest in the Mexico striker on June 2. Atlético's coaching staff want the player to get some experience under his belt on loan next season and the two clubs maintain an excellent relationship. However, it might not be the only option. On Sunday Portuguese daily A Bola reported that Benfica, Porto's eternal rival, have also enquired about Jiménez and the Eagles have a trump card up their sleeve.

Atlético are keen on signing Benfica's 21-year-old midfielder Anderson Talisca, one of the jewels of the Estádio da Luz academy. Benfica see Jiménez as a decent addition to their forward line and hope that their ownership of Talisca can steal a march on Porto in the race for the Mexican's signature. Benfica value the Brazilian at 25 million euros, an amount that Atlético are reluctant to meet. The Calderón club hope that Jiménez may prove to be an attractive makeweight in a deal to bring Talisca to the Spanish capital.
