Iker Casillas will relinquish 35% of his salary for the two remaining years on his contract at Real Madrid to facilitate a move to FC Porto. The deal has been agreed between the player, the Nos Liga side and now just awaits confirmation from Real Madrid.
Casillas contractually stands to earn 24 million euro (gross) on his two year deal with the Spanish club and would surrender a sum of 8.5 million euro for the move to materialize. Porto have offered the goalkeeper a two year deal (with a third as optional) and a salary of 10 million euro. Casillas now just needs Madrid to confirm that they will make up the 5.5 million euro shortfall.
If this happens as expected, then Casillas will avoid having to show up this evening at 1700 for the first-team squad meetuing that Rafa Benitez has organized. He can then focus on the pre-season training that FC Porto will undertake in Holland.
Once the deal has been completed, Real Madrid plan to hold a lavish send-off for the player who has been 25 years with the club.
