Iker Casillas is a still currently a Real Madrid player. The goalkeeper has still not signed the settlement with Madrid and is therefore still waiting to seal his move to Porto. That is why he, along with the rest of his team-mates, went to the first meeting with new coach Rafa Benítez ahead of the start of pre-season tomorrow and the trip to Australia on Sunday.
The club captain arrived at Madrid’s training base at 18:48 (CET) today. Casillas has already reached an agreement with the Portuguese club and talks between Porto and Madrid have been successfully concluded. The only thing that is missing is the total amount Real Madrid will agree to pay to cover the shortfall from Porto. Casillas had an agreement for €24 million gross for the next two seasons and to leave and sign for Porto he is ready to give up €8.5m. Porto have agreed to pay €10m gross over two seasons to the goalkeeper, who has an option for a third year. To finally complete the move Real Madrid just need to sign the written commitment to pay the remaining €5.5m.
Sergio Ramos, whose future at Real Madrid is still up in the air, also attended the meeting at Valdebebas, the club’s training base, with Benítez.
