Garbiñe Muguruza received a standing ovation from the Center Court crowd after her defeat to Serena Williams in the final of the Wimbledon women’s singles competition.
"I really enjoyed the experience, it’s difficult to put into words", said the young Spanish tennis player as she fought to hold back tears of emotion but was clearly happy as her beaming smile testified.
The number 20 ranked player in the WTA ranking confirmed that she was proud of her performances on grass, traditionally one of her least favorite playing surfaces.
"I’d like to take the opportunity to congratulate Serena, she’s the number one player in the world", concluded Muguruza, who without doubt we’re set to see again at Wimbledon next summer.
