Just when all seemed set for both clubs to announce the Casilas move from Real Madrid to FC Porto in an official capacity, the Cope radio network has recently announced that negotiations have broken down as Real Madrid are not willing to assume the tax risks associated with the move.
Iker Casillas spent the morning at Valdebebas with negotiations ongoing between both parties. The goalkeeper arrived at the complex at 10:27, whilst the Real Madrid first team squad trained, he left at approximately 11:35.
It’s not clear if Casillas was at Valdebebas to say his final goodbye to the squad or pick up his personal belongings as at that time everything pointed to the final confirmation on the deal closure being a question of time.
Casillas was scheduled to give a press conference this evening to announce his departure from Madrid. Benitez is overseeing the second training session of the day at 1900 and it’s unclear if Casillas will speak after this session after this latest glitch involving the move.
The basis of the Casillas move to Portugal would see the goalkeeper play for the Liga Nos side for two years with an extra year as optional.
