Although Pedro Rodríguez recently extended his contract with Barcelona until 2019, his future at the club remains unclear. The Barça striker is looking for regular first-team football after a season in which he was eclipsed by the Messi, Suárez and Neymar trident. Moreover, the signing of Arda Turan would appear to reduce his chances even further. His contract extension lowered his release clause from 150 to 30 million euros and now newspapers such as Sport and Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Chelsea and José Mourinho are gradually becoming firm favourites as his next employers. The British press have also reported interest from the Premier League champions.

The Blues, who last year signed Cesc Fábregas from Los Culés, are waiting to see the outcome of the presidential elections before making an offer for the man from Tenerife. Pedro will want to discuss matters with the new board, although his chances of a regular place in the starting line-up appear slim. Last season he played a total of 2,219 minutes in all competitions, whereas in the 2010-11 campaign, under Pep Guardiola, he featured for 3,578.
