Tokyo Verdy hasn’t fielded a Rocket League roster anymore. After two days, the ensuing re-election of ReaLize, Tenhow and sigms won the RLCS World Championships 2022 under the orgless title of Senbei Strikers.
That’s not immediately apparent. There seems to be a choice, not that the players had made a decision, or that the team was dropped from the franchise. Many tweets suggest this didn’t happen overnight and that the organisation and players parted ways for a while. Fortunately none of the info is confirmed, except the confirmation of the change in the official Twitter of the football field.

Because the team are supposed to play tomorrow at the World Championships, they would be very weird to have their backers cut ties, so it looks likely they won’t play in a conflict.

This team has some unusual roster history. In 2020, they haven’t had a full 3-man roster listed yet; for a long time, their 3rd, Maru, was only listed as a stand-in and their 3rd, sigms, is listed as the same. From what is known, he seems to have taken the leap with them, so it is not clear whether this uncertain roster situation made us some indifferent to the team.
The only thing that seems more certain is that it’s not an issue of the roster working together or not getting results. They only finished 1st, then they had 2nd in every APAC regional event for the majority of one year. They will play against OpTic in the first Swiss Round of the RLCS Worlds Wildcard stage, and coming in fourth place in the top 16 is impressive for a team from the traditionally small regions of Rocket League.
