Ferran Torres has spoken about Pedri’s latest injury set back and admits his Barcelona team-mate is having a tough time after being ruled out of action yet again.

Pedri suffered a sprained knee during Spain’s Euro 2024 quarter-final win over Germany after an ugly tackle by Toni Kroos.

The midfielder has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament, but Torres says he will be supporting the team from the sidelines.

“He’s a bit messed up. He misses the rest of the European Championship, but I have no doubt that he’s going to support us and give us a lot of strength from off the pitch,” he said.

Ronald Araujo has subsequently joined Pedri on Barcelona’s injured list, and picking up a problem at the Copa America, and Torres bemoaned the current busy schedule.

“There are a lot of matches, with a lot of demands, matches every three days, with practically no time to rest,” he added. “It’s normal that there are injuries. We have to minimise them and finish the season as healthy as possible.”

Torres has been used sparingly by Spain at Euro 2024 but will be hoping for more minutes on Tuesday when La Roja take on France for a place in the final.
