Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Argentina winger Angel Di Maria is leaving the club after seven seasons.

With the 34-year-old's contract expiring, he will look to add to his 91 goals and club-record 111 assists in his 295th and final game for PSG.

"Angel Di Maria has left a permanent mark on the history of the club," PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was quoted as saying. "He will remain in the memories of the supporters as someone with an irreproachable attitude, who has defended our colours with faultless commitment."

Al-Khelaifi also urged the fans to "head down to the Parc des Princes to give him the tribute he deserves" when Paris Saint-Germain host FC Metz on May 22 (IST).

The final will kick off with no confirmation yet on Kylian Mbappe's future. The French striker's contract is expiring and, according to media reports, LaLiga champions Real Madrid are pursuing Mbappe.

After joining in 2015, Di Maria netted 15 goals and had 25 assists, including the record for most league assists with 18, across all competitions in his first season with Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentina winger won five league titles and French Cups, and four League Cup trophies.

In December 2020, Di Maria recorded two assists in a home match against Istanbul Basaksehir. He thus became the player with the third most assists in UEFA Champions League history with a tally of 32, only behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Paris Saint-Germain lead the top tier of French football, Ligue 1 standings, with 83 points, 15 ahead of second-placed AS Monaco FC and Olympique de Marseille who sit in third position. Monaco have a goal difference of 25 compared to Marseille's 21 goal difference.
