French football prodigy, superstar of PSG and the France team, Kylian Mbappé remains a phenomenon that fascinates the crowds. But the opinion of the French towards him begins slowly but invariably to decline.
Long considered a master of communication because of his mastered and ambitious speeches which combined perfectly with his actions on the ground, Kylian Mbappé has been playing a dangerous game in recent weeks. His desire to put PSG up against the wall about his future has managed to stretch his club, which now communicates publicly and also behind the scenes to assert its point of view. The supporters therefore find themselves torn between their love for the club, and that for Kylian Mbappé who has always sworn loyalty, but seems ready to take the plunge to join Real Madrid, this summer or the next for zero euros.
Mbappé, his communication is playing tricks on him
This tension between the French international and his club is felt in any case from the outside, and this plays on his image. According to an Odoxa poll commissioned by RTL and Winamax, Kylian Mbappé’s reputation has deteriorated in recent months, in particular due to his communication and his speaking out on social issues that may not have passed.

As a result, his image as a sympathetic player in the eyes of the French has dropped by 10 points, to fall to 70% this Sunday against 80% in 2019 for example. The fact of being a recognized sportsman did not however prevent Tony Parker or Teddy Riner from approaching 90% of favorable opinion, a figure from which KM7 therefore moves away with now 63% of favorable opinion about the footballer .
Mbappé’s lack of humility pointed out
But above all, his ability to display his confidence, which previously passed for ambition, is now playing tricks on him. In 2019, the French highlighted his humility at 66%. A score that rose to 57% in 2021. And now, two years later, only 45% of French people questioned find him humble. His critical speech towards PSG, but also his ability to intervene on social issues such as the death of young Nahel before calling for calm after the nights of riots, were not necessarily understood by the people interviewed in this survey. A lack of humility which returns in any case regularly in the criticisms against Kylian Mbappé, who remains a very popular character in France, but whose rating is still going down regularly now since his explosion in 2018.
