French media have shown no mercy in their assessment of former Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar after his “disaster” display in a 3-2 Ligue 1 loss for Paris Saint-Germain to OGC Nice.

L’Equipe give the 28-year-old a score of just 3/10 in the player ratings for the match, via FCInter1908.

Skriniar made the move from Inter to PSG this summer.

The Slovakian former Sampdoria defender may have joined the French champions on a free transfer. But there is no doubt that it was a big move.

Last summer, the Parisians had been reportedly ready to pay a big fee to Inter to sign Skriniar.

But in the end, the Nerazzurri did not deem any of PSG’s offers to be sufficient. They rejected the Ligue 1 giants’ bids and decided to keep Skriniar.

Then, Inter hoped to agree a contract extension with Skriniar.

The 28-year-old’s contract with the Nerazzurri ran out at the end of this June.

But the player decided not to sign a new deal. Instead, he ended up joining PSG after all, with the Parisians convincing him that it was the right next step for him.

Ex-Inter Defender Milan Skriniar A “Disaster” For PSG In Loss To OGC Nice

There’s no doubt that Skriniar arrived at PSG with big expectations on his shoulders.

Over much of his six seasons as an Inter player, the Slovakian had been one of the outstanding defenders in Serie A.

In getting their man, PSG essentially signed a player who is meant to be a stalwart of their defense for years to come.

But Skriniar did not show it yesterday evening, to put it very mildly. The 28-year-old was nothing short of a “disaster” against Nice.

For L’Equipe, the former Nerazzurri defender’s biggest issue was his lack of pace. He seemed to lag behind play in his attempts to mark Nigerian former Lorient striker Terem Moffi.

It was Moffi who scored two of Nice’s goals in a 3-2 win for the Southern French side.

And Skriniar was culpable, in how he looked out of sorts in his individual duel with the 24-year-old.

Perhaps few would deny Skriniar’s formidable and rugged defensive prowess when he is at his best. But yesterday against Nice was not Skriniar at his best.

The Slovakian will have to take every aspect of his game to an altogether different level going forward.

Otherwise, he is at risk of becoming a flop in the French capital.
