The two attackers are Nigeria’s best players in France at the moment but they are set for a direct confrontation this weekend
Montpellier forward Akor Jerome Adams has revealed his admiration for OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi, Soccernet.ng reports.
Adams and Moffi will meet on the pitch for the first time when Montpellier host Nice in a Ligie 1 clash on Friday.
Moffi has been Nigeria’s number-one striker in Ligue 1 since arriving from Belgium in 2020. The former Lorient star has 43 goals in 114 Ligue 1 games and was often referred to as the Revelation of the Season during his first year in France.
Adams is in line to claim that title following his exceptional performances in his first few weeks in the French league.
The former Lillestrom star has seven goals in ten games, four more than Moffi and only three behind PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.
However, despite only managing three goals and two assists in 11 games for Nice, Moffi is in a better place as Les Aiglons are currently the French Ligue 1 leaders.
While Montpellier are 13th on the table, a win over Nice could lift the club all the way up to 7th.
And with a place in the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations up for grabs, Adams admits he can’t wait to play against and outshine Moffi.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming clash, Akor told ScoreNigeria, “It’s going to be a great game, and I know many fans back in Nigeria will be tuned in to watch.
“Moffi has done very well in Ligue 1, and he’s one of the top strikers here now. What he has achieved in France has inspired players like me coming behind.
“We (Montpellier) need to secure a victory to climb up the table. We now have to pick ourselves up after the loss at Parc des Princes to fight for our rightful place.”
OGC Nice are on an impressive run of four consecutive victories, while Montpellier fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat against champions PSG last weekend.
