Striker stance on Leicester City transfer unclear

Fresh claims have been made over Leicester City’s pursuit of Charles De Ketelaere, with contrasting reports over the player’s stance on a transfer.

The forward has been heavily linked with a move to City since the January transfer window as Brendan Rodgers looks to add more goals to his team in a summer ‘refresh’ of his squad. De Ketelare has emerged as one of the potential targets, with reports claiming that City are ‘planning’ an offer for the Belgian international.

Reports in Belgium claim that City have a ‘clear advantage ’ over the likes of AC Milan and Napoli in the race for De Ketelare this summer. Voetbal belgie repeat reports that City are preparing an offer of €30m, with it suggested that the fee is around the figure that Brugge are after this summer.

Now though, Belgian news outlet in Het Nieuwsblad disputes that by saying that De Ketelaere is ‘only interested’ in a summer move should a ‘real top club’ make an approach.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers opens up on his long-term future

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has opened up on his future, revealing he has no plans to still be in management when he reaches 74 like Roy Hodgson.

Rodgers, 49, faces Hodgson and his Watford side in the Premier League on Sunday, with City heading to Vicarage Road. And the Foxes manager said: “He is such a reference and role model for us all Roy.

“Some 46 years he has been managing, 20 teams, with four national teams and 1,200 games, it is remarkable really. Football is about longevity, and it is exactly the same for a manager to have that hunger and desire to keep doing it.

“Roy has proven over many years that he is a top-level coach and I have always enjoyed our conversations, always learned from him. To see him still have that enthusiasm and love for the game for that length of time, if you look at Roy’s career, it has been phenomenal.”
