And in the current circumstances, with Tim Steidten become so influential at the club, he has to be on thin ice. Making the position perhaps even worse is that as chief scout he has been responsible mainly for looking in Europe here, and during his time at Manchester City, whilst the club we will be concentrating on bringing in homegrown players next summer or perhaps sooner.
Newman may be victim of shake-up
Newman has had his successes to be fair with the likes of Nayef Aguerd and maybe Emerson whilst British grown player Flynn Downes – despite looking decent to many – was farmed out on loan to Southampton in the summer but given the “homegrown” problem could well find his way back next summer.
A source inside the club agreed that Newman’s role was looking more and more limited but it is unlikely any exit terms will be agreed until the manager’s future is decided when he will probably be on his way regardless with the need to pay compensation having passed.
