What is the latest team news?
Mourinho is still short of defensive options with Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind sidelined with injury, although Eric Bailly's return is a welcome boost. Paul Pogba, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford all sat out the FA Cup victory at Huddersfield but returned to the squad for the Champions League trip to Sevilla.
Conte left Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud on the bench for the 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the Champions League, electing to play Eden Hazard as a false nine. Both centre forwards are in contention to start at Old Trafford but Ross Barkley remains a serious doubt with a hamstring injury. Out of favour midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko was not in the squad for Barcelona while David Luiz remained absent.
What has been said?
Conte on Mourinho:
"I think he has to see himself in the past - maybe he was speaking about himself in the past. Maybe, sometimes, I think that someone forgets what's said in the past, which is his behaviour.
"Sometimes I think there is, I don't know the name, but demenza senile... when you forget what you do in the past."
Mourinho on Conte:
"What never happened to me - and will never happen - is to be suspended for match-fixing. That never happened to me and will never happen."
Conte responds:
"I think when there are these types of comments, comments where you try to offend the person and don't know the truth, then you are a little man.
"In the past he was a little man in many circumstances, he's a little man in the present and for sure he will be a little man in the future. I consider him a little man and I consider him a man with a very low profile."
What are the odds?
- Man Utd 11/10
- Chelsea 13/5
- Draw 9/4
What is our prediction?
Two United defeats in three league games give this contest added significance. If Liverpool beat West Ham at Anfield and Spurs win at Selhurst Park, just four points will separate second and fifth by kick-off. Mourinho has a formidable record in big head-to-head league games at home, but Chelsea turned in their most impressive performance for some time against Barcelona. United possess a wider array of attacking threats, but Chelsea are arguably more balanced and an ingrained pattern of play. If events on the pitch disappoint, the pantomime stuff between the two managers should keep us entertained.
Verdict: Man Utd 1 Chelsea 1
