Spain's Dani Carvajal is continuing to make good progress in his recovery from a right hamstring injury and took part in some of Tuesday's training session in Krasnodar, Russia, ahead of the World Cup.

The Real Madrid right-back picked up the injury during the Champions League final win against Liverpool on May 26. Carvajal is expected to miss Friday's game against Portugal, with Real Sociedad's Alvaro Odriozola set to replace him in the starting XI, yet he should be available for the other Group B encounters against Morocco and Iran.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) posted a video of Carvajal stepping on to the pitch on Tuesday morning with the message: "The session starts with good news! Dani Carvajal has started today the session with the group to complete part of the work scheduled. Come on, Dani!"

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, who left Monday's session early after feeling discomfort in his left knee, completed the workout without any problems.

Midfielder Koke is wary of the threat posed by Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Spain's Group B opener against Portugal on Friday.

"Ronaldo wins games and we have to be careful," the Atletico Madrid midfielder said at Tuesday's news conference in Krasnodar.

"But Portugal have great players and they are the current European champions. We will have to do things very well if we want to win the game.

"You never go out for a draw, the best result would be a victory. We will try to enhance our virtues and improve on our defects, but we also study our opponents and we not only look at the individuals but at all the collective."
