It all begins at Hampden with Steve Clarke penning a Scotland contract extension to lead the nation right through - hopefully - to the World Cup in 2026 across the Big Pond. But we have Germany on our mind first.
Cyprus are ranked 110 in the world FIFA standings so, on paper, it's a favourable, start to qualifying Group A with big hitters Spain coming to Glasgow on Tuesday for the second fixture.
They are now managed by one of Clarke's old charges, Temuri Ketsbaia, with the pair having worked together at Newcastle United, along with Clarke's trusted coach John Carver.
Nothing other than a winning start will do, though, for the Tartan Army as Scotland look to make it two major tournaments out of three after Euro 2020 qualification.

Birthday boy Porto
Ryan Porteous starts on his 24th birthday so he'll be hoping to blow Cyprus away before blowing out the candles on his cake. And the former Hibs man is loving life at Watford and belives his international recognition has silenced a few of his doubters.
I'm quite a confident lad and I do back myself. I knew I was ready for that opportunity and I had full faith in the manager and the team in there as well so it was maybe a moment that shut a few people up and stuff like that.
But listen, I've been quite good at not listening and reading the press in the past couple of years because it's not obviously been a fantastic place for me. I'm glad that it went well and now I think it's about kicking on.

Gunn gets his chance
Angus Gunn has been given the nod by Steve Clarke to shine in the sticks.
The Norwich City keeper will be hoping for a solid performance so he can cement a place in the starting XI for the Spain game on Tuesday.
Elsewhere the only real shock is Ryan Jack starts instead of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominey in the midfield.
It is a very strong looking Scotland team to take on Cyprus. Here's hoping for three points.

The wet weather here in the southside of Glasgow may cause it to cut up but hopefully not as bad as the Viaplay Cup semi-finals earlier this year.

It could barely have been a more dramatic end the last time Cyprus came to Hampden for Steve Clarke's first game in charge. Andy Robertson looked to have won it only for Cyprus to level late on. But Oli Burke popped up with a last-gasp winner. It was an incredible end... although maybe Mark McGhee didn't quite capture that. Let's just put it down to a bit of shock.
