Chile 1-3 Uruguay in South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup [VIDEO]

With goals from Nicolás De La Cruz (x2) and Federico Valverde, Marcelo Bielsa’s ‘La Maquina Celeste’ beat Chile 3-1 at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo during the debut of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Arturo Vidal discounted for ‘La Roja’.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay began its path to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in an auspicious way this Friday, defeating Chile 3-1 (partial 2-0) at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo for the first date of the South American qualifiers.

The Celeste’s victory came with a double from Nicolás de la Cruz (at 38 and 71) and Federico Valverde, at 45+2, while Arturo Vidal scored for the visit at 74.
