Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, striker Marcus Thuram, and defender Francesco Acerbi should all be back soon.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, update on the trio’s recovery timeline.

Inter will be without three important components of the starting eleven against Atalanta this evening.

Calhanoglu has been absent through a thigh strain. He did not feature against Lecce on Sunday either.

Meanwhile, striker Thuram is still recovering from a thigh problem that he picked up against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last Tuesday.

Lastly, Acerbi has been out since the Serie A win away to Roma earlier this month.

According to the Gazzetta, however, all three should be back in action in the near future.

When Inter Can Count On Calhanoglu, Thuram & Acerbi Returns

In the case of Calhanoglu, the Gazzetta report that there are medical tests scheduled for today.

These will be to determine whether or not the former AC Milan midfielder can start working on the pitch again.

If Calhanoglu can start training individually already, then a return would be on the horizon against either Genoa or Bologna.

Meanwhile, striker Thuram trained individually yesterday.

However, the Frenchman should be able to resume training with his teammates in the next few days.

Therefore, Thuram will be targeting a return against Genoa next Monday. He would aim to be ready to be on the bench for that Serie A match.

The same is true of defender Acerbi.

The veteran former Lazio and Sassuolo defender should be back in full training by this weekend.

That would allow for Acerbi to be part of the squad for Monday’s match against Genoa.

In the case of all of Calhanoglu, Thuram, and Acerbi, there is a clear objective.

Inter will aim to have the trio returning in the next couple matches, but not rushing their returns. That way they can be at their best against Atletico Madrid next month.
