The Kentucky Wildcats have struck again in the transfer portal.

This time, it’s North Texas wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin who will rock Kentucky blue.

One of the biggest pass-catchers to enter the portal this year, Maclin made the announcement Wednesday on Twitter via Hayes Fawcett.

Originally a class of 2020 recruit out of Saint Louis (MO), Maclin was a 3-star prospect ranked 558th nationally by 247 Sports Composite before signing with the Missouri Tigers. He held additional offers from Kentucky, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, and Arizona State, among others.

The 5-foot-11, 183-pound Ja’Mori is the brother of Missouri great and longtime NFL receiver Jeremy Maclin, which was a big reason he committed to the Tigers out of high school. Ja’Mori would stay there for two seasons while rarely seeing the field before entering the transfer portal in 2022. He then landed at North Texas, where he spent the next two years.

Once Maclin entered the portal this time around, he received scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Penn State, Cincinnati, and Michigan State, among others.

This past season was Maclin’s best, as he caught 57 balls for 1,004 yards (17.6 avg) and 11 scores. He caught 16 passes for 380 yards (23.8 avg) and two touchdowns in 2022.

At North Texas, Maclin played almost exclusively on the boundary (played 8.3% of his snaps in the slot), which is also true of Dane Key and Barion Brown. However, Brown did log a good chunk of snaps in the slot last season (34.1% according to PFF), so perhaps he’ll play more there next season with primarily slot wideout Tayvion Robinson exhausting his eligibility, allowing for Maclin to be on the field a lot with Brown and Key.
